An officer of the Edo State Security Corps, Martins Enahoro, and two other persons have been killed in separate violent incidents recorded in Sobe and Ewatto communities in Edo State.
The Edo State Police Command disclosed this in a statement issued on Monday by its spokesperson, Eno Ikoedem, who said 15 suspects had been arrested in connection with the incidents.
According to the police, the first incident occurred around 10am on Sunday, August 23, 2026, in Sobe after youths allegedly attacked the residence and vehicles of one Ojo Gabriel from Atoruru Village.
Security personnel, including police detectives and members of the Edo State Security Corps, were deployed to the area following the report.
However, the youths allegedly attacked the security team when they arrived, damaging the side glass of a police patrol vehicle and assaulting security personnel.
Two locally made single-barrel guns belonging to the security personnel were also reportedly taken during the attack but were later recovered.
Three security personnel — Tunde Ali, Izedu Monday and Charles Ighororo — sustained serious injuries and are currently receiving treatment.
The police said three unidentified youths also sustained pellet injuries during the confrontation, with one of them later dying while receiving treatment at David and Stella Hospital, Sabongida-Ora. His remains were deposited at Heavenly Home Mortuary as efforts continue to identify him and locate his family.
Eleven suspects have so far been arrested over the Sobe incident, while security has been reinforced with the deployment of police and military personnel to restore normalcy.
In a separate incident at Ewatto, the police said an Edo State Security Network officer, Martins Enahoro, was attacked around 12:20pm by suspected members of the Aro Berger confraternity, including individuals identified as Gbozia and Gezo.

The command said preliminary investigations showed that Enahoro stabbed one of his attackers, identified as Gbozia, while attempting to defend himself.
Enahoro subsequently sustained multiple cut injuries. Both men were rushed to God’s Will Hospital in Ewohimi, where they were confirmed dead by a doctor.
Their remains were deposited at the mortuary pending further investigation.
Four suspects have been arrested in connection with the Ewatto incident, with two allegedly confessing to membership of the Vikings and Aiye confraternities. The suspects have been transferred to the Area Command Headquarters for further investigation, while police continue efforts to arrest other fleeing suspects.
The command has deployed the Police Mobile Force, Squadron 82, as reinforcement in the affected areas.
The Edo State Commissioner of Police, Patrick Daaor, urged residents to remain calm and law-abiding, while encouraging members of the public to provide useful information that could assist the ongoing investigations.
He warned that attacks on security personnel would not be tolerated and assured residents that anyone found culpable would face the law.
Police investigations into both incidents are ongoing.
