Preliminary investigations indicated that the crash was caused by speeding and route violations. The impact of the collision caused the Peugeot J5 bus to catch fire, leaving its front section completely burnt.
FRSC rescue officials arrived at the scene within two minutes after receiving the report. They managed traffic by diverting vehicles to an alternative lane while clearing the wreckage.
The bodies of the two victims were later evacuated by officers of the Nigeria Police Motor Traffic Division, Ogbere Division, and taken to a mortuary.
Reacting to the incident, FRSC Sector Commander Oludare Ogunjobi expressed sympathy to the families of the deceased and urged motorists to obey traffic regulations. He warned against speeding and dangerous driving, especially during poor weather conditions and on wet roads, stressing that such violations remain a major cause of fatal road crashes in Nigeria.
The FRSC also reaffirmed its commitment to improving road safety through strict enforcement of traffic laws, public awareness campaigns, and prompt emergency response.
