The Niger State Police Command has arrested two men accused of impersonating military personnel and assaulting a laundry attendant in Suleja over a missing mobile phone.
The suspects, identified as Abraham Ashiwel and Michael Okonkwo, both residents of the Bakassi area of Suleja, were arrested following an incident that occurred on August 8 at a laundry shop in the Angwan-Gwari area.
According to the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Wasiu Abiodun, the two men allegedly stormed the laundry shop and physically assaulted an attendant while demanding answers about a missing phone.
Following the incident, operatives of the ‘B’ Division in Suleja launched an investigation, which led to the arrest of the suspects.

During interrogation, the police said the suspects confessed to posing as military personnel within the community for several years.
Further investigations revealed that both men had previously attended the Nigerian Military School in Zaria but were expelled in 2016 and 2019, respectively.
Items recovered from the suspects included a military camouflage trouser, two combat T-shirts, two pairs of desert boots, two identity cards, and two jackknives.
The police added that the suspects remain in custody and will be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for further investigation and possible prosecution.
