The Adamawa State Police Command has arrested a 27-year-old man, identified as Ali Haruna, over the alleged murder of a woman at a hotel in Girei Local Government Area of the state.
According to a statement released on Saturday by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Suleiman Nguroje, the incident occurred on Friday at No Vex Hotel in Girei.
Police operatives attached to the Girei Divisional Headquarters reportedly responded swiftly after receiving reports of an altercation at the hotel.
Upon arrival, officers discovered the victim lying in a pool of blood with severe injuries. She was immediately taken to a medical facility, where she was later confirmed dead by medical personnel.
The police confirmed that the suspect, a resident of Bolori Ward in Maiduguri, Borno State, has been taken into custody in connection with the incident.

According to the command, preliminary investigations revealed that the suspect allegedly made statements accepting responsibility for the crime. However, investigators emphasized that efforts are still ongoing to determine the exact circumstances surrounding the incident and establish the motive behind the alleged attack.
Authorities also recovered the knife believed to have been used during the incident, which has been retained as evidence.
The Commissioner of Police in Adamawa State, Kabir Hassan, has directed the State Criminal Investigation Department to take over the case and conduct a thorough and professional investigation.
Meanwhile, an eyewitness who spoke to reporters claimed that the suspect checked into the hotel on Friday afternoon and that the incident allegedly occurred around 5 p.m. the same day.
The eyewitness further alleged that the suspect claimed the deceased was the third person he had killed this year. However, the police have not officially confirmed the statement.
The Adamawa State Police Command has urged residents to remain calm, avoid spreading unverified information, and allow investigators to conclude their work. The command also assured the public that anyone found guilty would face the full weight of the law.
