Two men have been arrested in Adamawa State over the alleged theft of eight underground irrigation pipes valued at about ₦3 million from the farm of the late elder statesman and former Gongola State governor, Bamanga Tukur.
The Adamawa State Police Command confirmed the arrest on Friday, September 18, 2026, days after Tukur’s death.
According to the police spokesperson, SP Suleiman Nguroje, the suspects, identified as 45-year-old Ibrahim Mohammed of Wauro Jabbe and 28-year-old Jemilu Yahaya, a scavenger from Jambutu Bypass, were arrested by operatives of the Kofare Divisional Police Headquarters in Yola following credible intelligence.

Preliminary investigations reportedly indicated that Mohammed allegedly stole the irrigation pipes and sold them to Yahaya.
The police said the stolen pipes and a Carry-Go motorcycle have been recovered, while the suspects remain in custody as investigations continue.
The Command added that the suspects would be charged to court after the completion of the investigation.
