A police corporal has been killed after armed robbers ambushed police officers responding to a distress call in Hadejia Local Government Area of Jigawa State.
The Jigawa State Police Command confirmed the incident, which occurred on Wednesday after residents alerted the police to the presence of armed robbers operating in the area.
According to the Command’s spokesperson, SP Lawan Shiisu Adam, the officers were attacked by the robbers while responding to the distress call, resulting in the shooting and death of one corporal.

The Commissioner of Police expressed condolences to the family of the deceased officer and commended his sacrifice in the line of duty.
The CP also visited the scene of the incident and directed the Divisional Police Officer and investigation teams to intensify efforts to identify and arrest those responsible.
The Police Command further said it would strengthen intelligence gathering, community engagement and patrols across Hadejia and other identified security flashpoints in Jigawa State.
