
Troops of the 63 Brigade, Sector 1 of the Joint Task Force (JTF), South-South, under Operation Delta Safe, have arrested two suspected criminals and recovered a cache of weapons during a raid in Ogidigben Community, Warri South-West Local Government Area of Delta State.
The operation, which followed reports of sporadic gunfire in the area, led to the recovery of four AK-47 rifles, six magazines, and 106 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition.
Security operatives also seized two knives, 10 machetes, and four pairs of rain boots believed to have been used by the suspects.
According to a statement issued by the Acting Assistant Director of Army Public Relations, Captain Iliyasu Bawa-Rijau, the troops acted on credible intelligence to carry out the swift and successful operation.
The arrested suspects are currently in military custody and are undergoing further investigation.

Reacting to the development, the Commander of the 63 Brigade, Brigadier General Moronfolu Abdulmoshood Shonibare, commended the troops for their professionalism and resilience.
He urged them to maintain the momentum in ongoing operations aimed at flushing out criminal elements from the region.
He also reassured residents of the military’s commitment to ensuring safety and security, warning that individuals or groups involved in illegal possession of arms or other criminal activities would be decisively dealt with.
The operation marks another step in ongoing efforts by security forces to restore peace and stability across the Niger Delta region.
