A yet-to-be-identified man has been crushed to death by a truck in a suspected hit-and-run incident along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, near the OPIC corridor in Ogun State.
The fatal accident occurred shortly before 1pm on Wednesday when the victim, reportedly a young adult male, was attempting to cross the busy expressway from the Lagos-bound section towards the roadside.
Eyewitnesses said the truck struck the man, ran over him and sped away from the scene immediately after the incident.
The crash caused traffic disruption as motorists were forced to manoeuvre around the accident scene. An eyewitness, identified as Nojeem, said the area had witnessed several fatal incidents involving pedestrians.
He appealed to the government to provide a pedestrian bridge along the corridor, saying such infrastructure would provide residents with a safer means of crossing the busy highway.
Confirming the incident, the spokesperson for the Ogun State Traffic Compliance Agency, Babatunde Akinbiyi, said TRACE and Amotekun operatives were deployed to the scene to manage the traffic situation.

Akinbiyi described the incident as a hit-and-run crash at the OPIC bus stop, outbound Lagos, adding that efforts were underway to evacuate the victim and restore normal traffic flow.
Later in the evening, he confirmed that the body had been removed from the expressway and taken to Olabisi Onabanjo University Teaching Hospital, Sagamu, by officials of the Federal Road Safety Corps.
He added that the road had been completely cleared and was free for vehicular movement.
The incident has renewed concerns over pedestrian safety along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, particularly at locations where people frequently cross the highway without dedicated pedestrian facilities.
