Two people narrowly escaped death after a 20-foot container truck overturned following a collision with another truck along Ikorodu Road in the Ojota area of Lagos State.
The accident occurred on Saturday at New Garage and involved a container truck with registration number SUL 460 ZY. The truck was reportedly carrying three people when it collided with a flat-body truck.
The Permanent Secretary of the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency, LASEMA, Dr Olufemi Damilola Oke-Osanyintolu, confirmed the incident.
According to him, the driver of the flat-body truck allegedly fled the scene before emergency responders arrived.
The impact caused the container-laden truck to overturn, obstructing about half of the carriageway and disrupting traffic along the busy road.
The collision also damaged a high-tension electricity pole, causing power cables to fall across the road. The situation created additional danger for motorists, pedestrians and emergency responders.
