A tragic thunderstorm has claimed the lives of six children and left two others injured in Dadiri Tirgali village, Ganye Local Government Area of Adamawa State.
The incident occurred on Sunday, July 19, when about eight children were reportedly working on a farm. During the storm, lightning struck the area, killing six of the children instantly, while the remaining two sustained injuries.

The injured victims were immediately taken to a nearby health facility, where they are currently receiving medical treatment.
The heartbreaking incident has thrown the community into mourning, with residents grieving the loss of the young victims.
Reacting to the tragedy, the Social Democratic Party (SDP) governorship candidate in Adamawa State, Christopher Nathaniel, described the incident as a devastating loss. He expressed condolences to the bereaved families, the people of Dadiri Tirgali, the traditional ruler of Ganye, and the entire Ganye Local Government Area.
Nathaniel said the deaths of the children had brought immense sorrow to Ganye Chiefdom and Adamawa State, praying for strength and comfort for the grieving families during the difficult period.
Ganye is widely regarded as one of Adamawa State’s leading agricultural communities, known for producing large quantities of food crops, including yam. The tragedy occurred while the children were reportedly engaged in farm work.
Authorities are yet to issue further details on the incident, while the injured children continue to receive medical care.
