Several Nigerian Army personnel have reportedly sustained injuries after a military patrol truck crashed along Ohafia Road in Abia State on Thursday morning.
The accident occurred during a heavy downpour as the vehicle was descending a sloped section of the highway.
According to eyewitness accounts, the patrol truck reportedly lost traction on the rain-soaked road, skidded off the asphalt and veered onto the roadside.
Footage from the scene showed the aftermath of the crash, with sections of the road covered in red mud washed down from nearby hills.
Civilians, commercial motorcyclists and other road users reportedly stopped to assist the injured soldiers. Some of the casualties were carried into civilian vehicles and buses and taken to nearby medical facilities for treatment.

One soldier was seen inside a rescue vehicle receiving assistance, while another armed soldier appeared to coordinate activities around the crash scene.
The exact number of casualties remains unclear. However, preliminary reports indicate that at least two soldiers sustained serious injuries.
The Abia State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Maureen Chinaka, said she was not immediately aware of the incident but promised to investigate and establish what happened.
Authorities are expected to provide further information as efforts to clear the damaged military vehicle and assess the circumstances surrounding the crash continue.
