
The Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Dekina Local Government Area of Kogi State, Ishaq Yunusa, has been killed by unidentified gunmen.
The incident reportedly occurred on Thursday evening along the Itobe–Ochadamu Expressway in Ofu Local Government Area of the state.
According to the Kogi State Police Command, the attackers emerged from the surrounding bush around 5:00 p.m. near Ojuwo Olijo and opened fire on motorists.
Following the attack, a blue Toyota Corolla was discovered abandoned along the highway. Yunusa, who was reportedly driving the vehicle, was found dead inside.

Police authorities also disclosed that another occupant of the vehicle was abducted and taken into the nearby bush by the assailants.
The Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Saliu Afusat, said security personnel had commenced operations in the area to locate the abducted victim and apprehend the perpetrators.
The deceased’s remains have been taken to Grimard Hospital in Anyigba for an autopsy.
The Commissioner of Police in Kogi State, Naziru Kankarofi, has directed sustained security operations along the affected route and ordered investigators to work towards bringing those behind the attack to justice.
The police have also urged motorists and residents in the area to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious activities to security agencies.
