Six students of the Federal University, Lokoja, have been arrested by the Kogi State Police Command over alleged involvement in assault, cyberstalking, and related offences.
The suspects identified as Inajo Henry, Nzekwe Victor, Lucky Victor, Lucky Gambo, Paul David, and a 17-year-old minor were apprehended following a complaint lodged by a fellow student, Oladosu Sunday.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, the Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Saliu Oyiza Afusat, disclosed that the case was initially reported at the ‘B’ Division in Lokoja on March 30, 2026, before being transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for further probe.
According to the police, investigations revealed that the suspects allegedly conspired to falsely accuse the victim of being homosexual without any credible evidence.
They reportedly lured him to an apartment near the Living Faith Church area in Felele on March 29 at about 9:00 p.m.
The police said the victim was subsequently confined, forcibly stripped, and subjected to physical assault using belts and charging cords, while the incident was recorded.

Preliminary findings indicated that the act was premeditated and based on unverified assumptions about the victim’s behaviour.
“The suspects admitted during interrogation that their actions were deliberate,” the statement noted.
The police spokesperson confirmed that investigations have been concluded and the suspects have been arraigned before a court of competent jurisdiction.
The Command condemned acts of jungle justice, cyberbullying, and violations of fundamental human rights, warning youths against taking the law into their own hands.
It further urged individuals to seek lawful channels in addressing grievances, reaffirming its commitment to protecting citizens and ensuring justice is served.
The Commissioner of Police in the state, Naziru Bello Kankarofi, also assured residents of continued efforts to safeguard lives and property, while calling for public cooperation in combating crime.
