At least two people have reportedly been killed following another attack on the Atakpa community in Agatu Local Government Area of Benue State.
According to residents, the incident happened on Monday evening, less than 24 hours after a separate wave of violence left 14 people dead in Edikwu Ankpali and nearby communities in Apa LGA.

A local resident, who requested anonymity, said the victims were members of a search party looking for individuals who had gone missing after the earlier attacks. The source added that one of the victims had just been buried on Sunday, noting that communities along the Apa–Agatu border have faced near-daily attacks over the past three months.
However, the state Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Udeme Edet, challenged the reported death toll. She stated that no fatalities were recorded, explaining that one person was injured by a stray bullet and is currently receiving treatment. She also confirmed that one individual remains missing, while security forces have launched efforts to track down those responsible.
