A retired Superintendent of Police, Emmanuel Ahmed, has reportedly gone missing in Ogun State after leaving his home in Abeokuta to meet a cattle dealer over the sale of two cows.
Ahmed reportedly left home on July 23, 2026, after receiving a call from a Fulani cattle dealer identified as Muhammed Saleh, who invited him to meet at Rounder, along the Ayetoro Road, before proceeding to Alamutu Market.
According to Ahmed’s son, Emmanuel Nehemiah, his father left home on his motorcycle and stopped at a police checkpoint in Rounder, where officers who knew him reportedly saw him with Saleh.
The officers later told the family that Ahmed had carried Saleh on his motorcycle and was heading towards Abeokuta from the direction of Alamutu Market.
That was the last confirmed sighting of the retired police officer. He did not return home that night, prompting his family to begin searching for him.
The family subsequently reported the matter to the police. The case was initially handled by the local police division before being transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department and the Anti-Kidnapping Unit at Eleweran, Abeokuta.
Nehemiah said the family obtained Saleh’s telephone number and attempted to trace his movements and contacts. However, both Saleh’s number and Ahmed’s telephone lines were later switched off.

He added that information gathered during the search indicated movements around Oyo State and contacts with other individuals. Two persons were reportedly arrested and handed over to the Anti-Kidnapping Unit for further investigation.
The family has expressed concern over the lack of significant updates since the investigation was transferred, appealing to the authorities to intensify efforts to locate Ahmed.
Nehemiah said the family’s immediate priority was to establish that his father was alive and safe, noting that his health condition had heightened their concerns.
Confirming the incident, the Ogun State Police Command said it was aware of the case.
The command’s Deputy Police Public Relations Officer, Opeyemi Oluborode, said the Commissioner of Police, Bode Ojajuni, had directed the Anti-Kidnapping Unit to ensure the safe return of the retired officer.
Oluborode assured that the command was not relenting in its efforts to locate Ahmed and reunite him with his family.
The circumstances surrounding the retired police officer’s disappearance remain under investigation as security agencies continue efforts to establish his whereabouts.
