
Operatives of the Ogun State Police Command have arrested two suspected members of an armed robbery syndicate and recovered three locally made pistols and 18 live cartridges during a follow-up investigation into a robbery case.
The suspects, identified as 46-year-old Adeyinka Onakomaya and 48-year-old Olayiwola Kehinde, were apprehended by the command’s Anti-Robbery Team after investigators traced a stolen red Toyota Matrix linked to an armed robbery incident that occurred in April 2026.
According to the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, the arrests were made following sustained intelligence gathering and continuous operational efforts by the police.
He disclosed that officers tracked the suspects to their hideouts in the Babaode area along Idiroko Road in Ota, Ogun State, and the Command area of Lagos State.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspects, alongside other members of their gang, were allegedly involved in the April robbery incident and several other armed robbery operations and vehicle-snatching activities across Ota, Iju, Babaode, and Atan communities in Ogun State.

The police spokesperson stated that a search conducted after the suspects’ arrest led to the recovery of three locally made pistols and 18 live cartridges.
Babaseyi added that both suspects allegedly confessed to participating in multiple robbery operations and are currently assisting investigators with information that could lead to the arrest of other members of the syndicate.
He noted that efforts are ongoing to identify and apprehend other fleeing members of the criminal network for possible prosecution.
The Ogun State Commissioner of Police, Bode Ojajuni, commended the Anti-Robbery Team for its commitment and professionalism, describing the operation as a demonstration of the command’s determination to combat criminal activities in the state.
He also urged residents to remain vigilant and continue reporting suspicious movements and activities to the police through the appropriate emergency channels.
