
The Kano State Police Command has rescued a two-year-old boy who was abducted in Kano, arresting three suspects and recovering a large portion of the ransom paid by the victim’s family.
The incident occurred on April 19 in Gwammaja Quarters, Dala Local Government Area, when the child, identified as Aliyu Muhammad, was reportedly kidnapped in front of his family residence.
According to the command’s spokesperson, Abdullahi Kiyawa, the abductors later contacted the family and demanded a ransom of ₦1 million.
The family complied with the demand, but the suspects failed to release the child afterward.
Following the report, the Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Bakori, immediately directed the Anti-Kidnapping Squad to launch an intelligence-led operation to rescue the victim and apprehend those responsible.

Police operatives, after sustained surveillance and technical tracking, traced the suspects to a hideout within Gwammaja Quarters. The three suspect Hassan Umar, Abdullahi Hamisu, and Hussaini Saminu were arrested at the location where the child was being held.
The police confirmed that the toddler was rescued unharmed and has since been reunited with his family. A sum of ₦930,000, believed to be part of the ransom paid, was also recovered from the suspects.
Commending the operatives, Bakori praised their professionalism and swift response, noting that their efforts ensured the safe return of the child.
The police command reiterated its commitment to tackling kidnapping and other violent crimes, urging members of the public to remain vigilant and provide timely information to security agencies.
