Edo State Police Command Spokesperson: Eno Ikoedem
The Edo State Police Command has successfully rescued all 13 passengers abducted along the Benin–Lagos Expressway in a coordinated security operation involving advanced surveillance and tactical ground efforts.
The victims were kidnapped on May 9 at Ogua Community when armed assailants attacked a commercial bus belonging to Young Shall Grow Motors, which was en route from Akwa Ibom to Lagos.
According to the Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Eno Ikoedem, the command swiftly launched rescue operations immediately after the incident. Initial efforts led to the rescue of five passengers, including two adults and three children.
She further revealed that sustained intelligence-driven operations, supported by aerial surveillance and drone technology, enabled security operatives to engage the kidnappers in a gun duel on May 10, resulting in the rescue of two additional victims.
“The command remained relentless in its pursuit of the criminals. Through coordinated bush-combing operations and the deployment of modern technology, we were able to secure the release of the remaining six passengers unharmed,” Ikoedem stated.
