
Operatives of the Edo State Police Command have arrested two suspected members of a 10-man armed robbery gang who allegedly carried out a violent operation in Ugbor area of Benin City before being tracked to a hotel where they were hiding.
The suspects, identified as Mustapha Haruna and Abdullahi Abdulrahman, were arrested following a swift response by police operatives after residents raised an alarm over the incident.
The gang reportedly stormed parts of Ugbor in Benin City, carting away valuables including mobile phones, laptops, a speaker, power banks, and cash.
According to residents, the suspects fled the scene after the operation but were later traced to a hotel within the city where they attempted to conceal themselves.

Confirming the arrest, the Edo State Police Command spokesperson, Eno Ikoedem, said operatives moved in quickly after the robbery was reported and successfully apprehended two members of the gang.
She added that several stolen items were recovered during the operation, while investigations are ongoing to apprehend other fleeing suspects.
Security authorities assured residents of continued efforts to clamp down on criminal activities in the area and bring all members of the gang to justice.
