The Bauchi State Police Command has arrested a suspect following a violent clash involving suspected hoodlums in the Tudun Yarima area of Bauchi metropolis.
The incident reportedly occurred at about 8:30 p.m. on Wednesday, September 2, 2026, after the police received a distress call concerning violence in the community.
Following the report, officers attached to the ‘A’ Division Township, alongside other joint patrol teams, were deployed to the area.
The police said the officers dispersed the suspected hoodlums and arrested individuals allegedly connected to the disturbance.
Several residents reportedly sustained injuries during the incident and were evacuated to Tashan Babiye Government Hospital for medical attention. Some of the victims were said to have been admitted for further treatment.
According to preliminary police investigations, the incident began after 25-year-old Babanyaya Aliyu allegedly conspired with others to attack the residence of a resident identified as Imrana.
The suspects allegedly attacked Imrana’s 27-year-old wife while attempting to steal her Itel Android phone, reportedly valued at N100,000.
They also allegedly vandalised a motorcycle and a tricycle before fleeing the scene.
The alleged attack subsequently triggered a reprisal, during which Imrana and others reportedly attacked Aliyu’s mother, leaving her injured.

The police confirmed that one suspect had been taken into custody, while efforts were ongoing to apprehend other suspects who remained at large.
The Commissioner of Police, Sani-Omolori Aliyu, condemned the violence and urged residents to refrain from taking the law into their own hands.
He assured residents that the command would continue to protect lives and property while urging members of the public to seek lawful means of resolving disputes.
The police said investigation into the incident was ongoing and that further developments would be communicated.
