
The Katsina State Police Command has intensified its fight against crime with the arrest of a suspected drug dealer and the successful dismantling of a four-man armed robbery syndicate operating within Funtua and nearby communities.
According to the Police Public Relations Officer, Abubakar Sadiq-Aliyu, the operations were carried out based on credible intelligence and resulted in the recovery of illicit drugs, dangerous weapons, stolen items, and cash.
In one of the operations, police operatives apprehended a 22-year-old suspect identified as Aliyu Umar, popularly known as “Makami,” during a raid in the Jabiri area of Funtua Local Government Area on May 28.
The arrest followed intelligence reports linking him to drug trafficking activities in the region.
Items recovered from the suspect include 38 Exol tablets, 28 wraps of dried leaves suspected to be cannabis, and a knife.
Police authorities believe he plays a significant role in a local drug distribution network, adding that investigations are ongoing.

In a separate development, officers attached to the Makera Police Division arrested three suspected members of an armed robbery gang identified as Salim Umar (24), Yusuf Mustapha (23), and Gaddafi Idris (27).
The suspects were reportedly involved in multiple criminal activities, including phone snatching, motorcycle theft, and shop break-ins.
A search conducted during their arrest led to the recovery of weapons such as knives, machetes, scissors, and an iron pinch bar. Other items recovered include mobile phones, SIM cards, charms, and cash suspected to be proceeds of crime.
The police command stated that further investigations are underway to uncover the full extent of the syndicate’s operations and to identify any additional accomplices.
The Katsina State Police Command reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring the safety and security of residents while urging members of the public to continue providing useful information to aid ongoing efforts to combat crime.
