
The Lagos State Police Command has arrested 135 suspected cult members during a large-scale security operation carried out across several parts of the state.
The raids were launched after intelligence reports suggested that rival cult groups were planning violent attacks and initiation ceremonies linked to the annual 7/7 cult activities. Police teams stormed identified criminal hideouts and black spots to prevent possible violence.
During the operation, officers recovered 26 firearms, 16 dangerous weapons including cutlasses, battle axes, daggers and knives. They also seized suspected illicit drugs, cult insignia, assorted charms, several bottles of alcohol, and six mobile phones.

The operation involved Area Commanders, Divisional Police Officers, tactical units and the Violent Crime Response Unit, all working under the directive of the Lagos State Commissioner of Police.
The police said investigations are ongoing to identify and arrest other suspected members of the criminal groups. Those already arrested will be charged to court once investigations are completed.
The Lagos State Police Command assured residents that it will continue intelligence-led operations to combat cultism and other violent crimes while encouraging members of the public to provide useful information that can help improve security across the state.
