
Operatives of the Katsina State Police Command have successfully foiled a kidnap attempt and rescued an 18-year-old girl abducted by suspected armed bandits in Danmusa Local Government Area.
The incident occurred late Tuesday night at about 11:53 p.m. when the attackers stormed Kukoki Quarters in Danmusa town and whisked away the victim, identified as Aisha Kabir.
According to a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, Abubakar Aliyu, the swift response of security operatives led to the victim’s rescue.
He explained that upon receiving a distress call, the Divisional Police Officer in Danmusa quickly mobilised an Armoured Personnel Carrier (APC) patrol team to pursue the assailants.
The police team engaged the kidnappers in a gun duel, overpowering them and forcing them to abandon the victim while fleeing with suspected gunshot injuries.
“The operatives trailed the suspects and engaged them decisively, leading to the rescue of the victim,” the statement noted.

Following her rescue, the young girl was immediately taken to a hospital for medical evaluation before being safely reunited with her family.
The police also confirmed that bush-combing operations are ongoing to apprehend the fleeing suspects.
Commending the officers involved, the Commissioner of Police, Ali Umar Fage, praised their professionalism and rapid response.
He reaffirmed the command’s commitment to protecting lives and property across the state and urged residents to continue providing timely and credible information to aid security operations.
This development comes amid continued efforts by security agencies to combat kidnapping and banditry in parts of northern Nigeria.
