
The Nigeria Police Force in Katsina State has rescued an 18-year-old girl after suspected armed bandits reportedly attempted to abduct her in Danmusa Local Government Area.
The victim, identified as Aisha Kabir, was rescued during a late-night operation launched by officers attached to the Danmusa Division following a distress call from residents.
According to the command’s spokesperson, Abubakar Aliyu, the incident happened around 11:53 p.m. on Tuesday when armed men invaded Kukoki Quarters in Danmusa Town and forcefully took the teenager away.
Aliyu said the Divisional Police Officer quickly deployed an Armoured Personnel Carrier tactical patrol team to pursue the suspects after receiving reports of the attack.

The police team reportedly tracked the gunmen into the area and engaged them in a shootout, forcing the attackers to abandon the victim and flee with suspected gunshot wounds.
“The operatives gave the hoodlums a hot chase and successfully overpowered them during the exchange of fire,” the statement said.
The rescued teenager was later taken to a hospital for medical examination before being reunited with her family.
The Commissioner of Police in the state, Ali Umar Fage, praised the officers involved in the operation, describing their response as swift and professional.
He also assured residents that security operatives are continuing bush-combing operations to track down and arrest the fleeing suspects.
The police further urged members of the public to continue providing timely and credible information to support ongoing efforts against kidnapping and banditry across the state.
