The Kebbi State Police Command has arrested two suspects allegedly connected to the abduction of three newly graduated military recruits along the Anka/Bukuyum Road in Zamfara State.
The suspects, identified as Abubakar Mallan Abubakar from Gargam Village in Anka Local Government Area of Zamfara State and Usman Muhammadu from Ajera in Ilorin, Kwara State, were apprehended during a targeted intelligence-led operation on August 1.
According to the police, preliminary investigations revealed that one of the suspects provided useful information concerning the kidnapping of the recruits, who were abducted in July 2026 along the Kwanan Mayanchi–Gurusu axis of Zamfara State while travelling after completing their military training.
The command disclosed that one of the victims, Kabiru Hassan, is from Ribah in Danko/Wasagu Local Government Area of Kebbi State, while the other two recruits are natives of Zuru Local Government Area.

Police authorities confirmed that all three recruits have since regained their freedom.
The case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for further investigation and possible prosecution of all individuals connected to the crime.
Kebbi State Commissioner of Police, Umar M. Hadejia, commended the officers who carried out the operation, describing the arrests as a major breakthrough in the investigation. He reaffirmed the command’s commitment to tracking down and prosecuting every person involved in the abduction and other criminal activities across the state.
The police also urged residents to continue supporting security agencies by providing credible and timely information that could aid efforts to combat crime and improve public safety.
