Operatives of the Lagos State Police Command, working in collaboration with a local vigilante group, have arrested two suspected armed robbers during a routine crime prevention patrol in the Odogunyan area of the state.
According to a statement released on Tuesday by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Abimbola Adebisi, the suspects were intercepted while carrying a handbag and attempted to flee upon sighting the security operatives. They were, however, swiftly apprehended.
A search conducted on the suspects led to the recovery of a locally made cut-to-size Dane gun and three live cartridges concealed in the handbag.

The suspects have been identified as Arowolo Damilola (32) and Adewale Adeyinka (29). They are currently in police custody and assisting with ongoing investigations. Authorities confirmed that they will be charged to court upon conclusion of the investigation.
Commending the efforts of the operatives and the local vigilante group, the Commissioner of Police, Tijani Fatai, praised their vigilance, prompt response, and effective collaboration, which led to the successful arrest and recovery of the firearm.
He further reiterated the Command’s commitment to ensuring the safety and security of residents across Lagos State, warning criminal elements to desist from unlawful activities or face the full weight of the law.
