
Tragedy struck along the Badagry Expressway in Lagos State as a barber, identified simply as Hafiz, was shot dead inside his barbing salon by suspected gunmen.
The incident reportedly occurred on Tuesday, July 21, at Church Gate, sending shockwaves through the local community.
According to sources familiar with the development, three armed men stormed the salon shortly after Hafiz had finished attending to a customer. The attackers allegedly opened fire on him at close range before fleeing the scene immediately.
“Hafiz had just concluded work for the day and was preparing to close when the gunmen entered and attacked him. He was shot and they escaped instantly,” a source disclosed.
The victim was rushed to a nearby hospital but was confirmed dead on arrival.

Further reports indicate that Hafiz was shot twice in the head, though the motive behind the attack remains unclear. Residents in the area have expressed shock, noting that the community has been relatively peaceful with no recent history of cult-related violence.
Some locals have ruled out cult clashes, suggesting that the killing may not be connected to known group conflicts, though authorities are yet to confirm this.
As of the time of filing this report, the Lagos State Police Command has not issued an official statement regarding the incident, and efforts to reach the police spokesperson were unsuccessful.
The incident adds to growing concerns over security in parts of Lagos, as residents call for swift investigation and justice for the slain barber.
