
Operatives of the Lagos State Police Command have apprehended a suspected armed robber and recovered a locally fabricated pistol along with assorted charms during a routine patrol in the Igando area of the state.
The arrest was confirmed in a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Abimbola Adebisi, who noted that the operation forms part of the command’s ongoing efforts to curb crime and ensure public safety across Lagos.
According to the statement, the suspect was intercepted when a police patrol team observed a motorcycle carrying three male occupants whose behavior raised suspicion. Upon sighting the officers, the men reportedly attempted to flee.
“One of the suspects, identified as Olajunja Segun Samson, 29, was apprehended, while the other two escaped, abandoning the motorcycle,” the statement revealed.

A subsequent search of the suspect and the abandoned motorcycle led to the recovery of a locally made pistol and several charms believed to be used for criminal activities.
The suspect is currently in police custody, while efforts are ongoing to track down and arrest the fleeing accomplices. Authorities have also launched a full investigation into the incident.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Tijani Fatai, commended the officers involved for their vigilance and professionalism. He reiterated the command’s commitment to tackling violent crimes and maintaining law and order across the state.
Residents have been urged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to security agencies through designated emergency lines to aid timely intervention and crime prevention.
