
The operatives of the Anambra State Police Command have arrested a 30-year-old suspected kidnapper identified as Okechukwu Chinweko, popularly known as “Bullet,” in connection with alleged abduction, rape, and illegal possession of firearms.
According to a statement issued by the Command’s spokesperson, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, the suspect was tracked and apprehended during a targeted operation carried out by the Rapid Response Squad in the early hours of May 16 at a hideout located in Umudike community, Awka.
The arrest followed credible intelligence linking him to a violent incident reported on May 2, 2026, during which a female victim was allegedly abducted and assaulted before being rescued by police operatives.
The victim was said to have sustained injuries before help arrived.
Police further disclosed that Chinweko was identified through prior intelligence and physical features, including a tattoo inscription bearing the nickname “Bullet” on his arm.

During the operation, security operatives reportedly recovered a locally fabricated Beretta pistol along with eight rounds of 9mm live ammunition, strengthening suspicions of the suspect’s involvement in armed criminal activity.
Investigations indicate that the suspect fled the scene after the earlier incident but was later traced to his hideout in Awka following sustained surveillance and coordinated intelligence efforts.
The Command confirmed that the suspect is currently in custody as investigations continue, adding that he will be formally charged in court upon conclusion of the case file.
Authorities reaffirmed their commitment to maintaining security across the state and ensuring that individuals involved in violent crimes are brought to justice regardless of how long it takes.
