The Jigawa State Police Command has intensified its crackdown on criminal activities, leading to the arrest of multiple suspects linked to theft, shopbreaking, and possession of stolen property across the state.
According to a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Lawal Shi’isu, the arrests were made during a series of intelligence-driven operations conducted in various locations.
The operations resulted in the recovery of one tricycle, two motorcycles, and 11 Android mobile phones suspected to have been stolen.
Police operatives attached to the Maigatari and Malam Madori Divisions apprehended three suspects allegedly found in possession of stolen Royal and Boxer motorcycles.
The suspects were identified as Abubakar Ya’u (30) and Aminu Ya’u (28), both residents of Dantanoma Quarters in Gumel Local Government Area, alongside Abdullahi Bala (25) from Garbagar Village in Guri LGA.
In a related development, a 31-year-old suspect, Anas Nuhu, from Jobe Village in Dawakin Tofa Local Government Area of Kano State, was arrested with a tricycle bearing registration number MDB 478 QE and Union number GWL 1842.

The vehicle is believed to have been stolen from a park in Tofa LGA. Police authorities confirmed that the suspect confessed to the crime during interrogation, and the case has since been charged to court.
In another operation, officers arrested 18-year-old Mamman Adamu of Tutiyari Village in Kirikasamma LGA following a reported shop burglary in Birniwa.
He was allegedly linked to the theft of 11 Android phones, all of which were successfully recovered. The suspect is expected to be arraigned upon the conclusion of investigations.
Commending the efforts of the operatives, the Commissioner of Police, CP Tijjani Murtala, praised their professionalism, vigilance, and dedication to duty.
He reiterated the command’s commitment to safeguarding lives and property, while urging residents to continue supporting law enforcement agencies with timely and credible information.
The police assured that operations against criminal elements in the state will be sustained to ensure public safety and security.
