The Akwa Ibom State Police Command has arrested a suspected serial burglar and recovered photographic equipment and other valuables worth over N21 million allegedly stolen from photo studios across the state.
The suspect, identified as Nicholas Olamide, was arrested on September 7 following a complaint over the burglary of a photo studio in the state.
Police said Olamide allegedly confessed to the crime and led investigators to other suspects and locations where stolen items were recovered. Two other suspects, Abasiakan Ikpembe and Edward Francis, were subsequently arrested.
According to the command, the recovered items include several Canon, Nikon and Sony cameras, studio lights, lenses, tripods, memory cards and other photography accessories.

The police further alleged that Olamide was involved in other burglary incidents, including the theft of photography equipment valued at about N8 million from a studio on Aka Road, Uyo.
The command disclosed that the principal suspect was a repeat offender who was recently released from a correctional facility in June 2026.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Baba Azare, commended the operatives for their swift investigation and urged business owners and members of the public to strengthen security around their premises and report suspicious activities.
Investigations are ongoing to determine the suspect’s possible involvement in other burglary cases within and outside Akwa Ibom State.
