
Operatives of the Nigeria Police Force have apprehended a 28-year-old suspected bandit found posing in military uniform in Bichi Local Government Area of Kano State.
The suspect, identified as Mohammed Isah Haruna, was arrested in Rimawya Village following actionable intelligence provided by a vigilant resident.
According to police sources, the arrest took place on Saturday, July 12, 2026, at about 6:00 p.m., when officers from the Bichi Division intercepted the suspect after receiving reports of a suspicious individual dressed in military attire.
A thorough search of the suspect’s belongings led to the recovery of several incriminating items, including:
One AK-47 magazine loaded with 30 rounds of live ammunition
Seventy-nine additional rounds of AK-47 ammunition

During interrogation, the suspect reportedly confessed that he was in the area to deliver the weapons and materials to bandits operating in nearby forests.
The Commissioner of Police in Kano State, CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, commended members of the Rimawya community for their vigilance and prompt reporting, emphasizing the importance of public cooperation in maintaining security.
He noted that the suspect remains in custody while investigations are ongoing to identify and apprehend other members of the criminal network.
The police further assured residents of their continued commitment to intelligence-driven and community-based policing across all local government areas in the state, adding that the suspect will be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigations.
