The Kebbi State Police Command has arrested six suspects in connection with the alleged theft of generators from an office of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Jega Local Government Area of the state.
According to the police, four suspects were arrested following an investigation into a break-in at the INEC office, during which six generators were reportedly stolen.
The command said all six generators have been recovered, although one of them had already been dismantled into scrap parts allegedly intended for sale.
The Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bashir Usman, disclosed this in a statement issued on Monday, explaining that detectives were deployed after the command received a report of the incident.
Usman said the investigation led to the arrest of four suspects and the recovery of the stolen government property.
In a separate operation, police operatives on August 28, 2026, arrested a 24-year-old man, Aliyu Muhammed, from Dudduke Village in Jega LGA.

Muhammed was allegedly found in possession of bundles of aluminium cable wires concealed inside a sack.
The police said the suspect confessed during interrogation to conspiring with another resident of the community, Yusuf Dudduke, to vandalise and steal cables from an electric pole.
Following the confession, Yusuf was also arrested, bringing the total number of suspects apprehended in the two separate incidents to six.
The command said the suspects are currently in police custody and will be charged to court after investigations are concluded.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Umar M. Hadejia, warned that the vandalism of critical infrastructure, breaking and entering, as well as the theft of government property would attract severe legal consequences.
He also urged residents to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious activities to the police to help protect public infrastructure and property.
