Troops of Sector 2, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have rescued a kidnapped woman and disrupted a planned ransom exchange in Danko-Wasagu Local Government Area of Kebbi State.
The acting spokesperson for the operation, Col. Olaniyi Osoba, disclosed this in a statement, explaining that the troops acted on credible intelligence about an impending ransom payment involving the victim, who was abducted from her farm last month.
According to Osoba, the troops mobilised to intercept the ransom exchange. The kidnappers reportedly engaged the soldiers after sighting their advance but were overwhelmed and forced to retreat, abandoning the hostage.
The rescued woman was found unharmed and subsequently taken to safety before being reunited with her family.

The troops also conducted a search along the kidnappers’ withdrawal route to secure the area before returning to base.
In a separate operation, troops carried out clearance and dominance patrols in Ngaski Local Government Area without incident.
Osoba reaffirmed that Operation FANSAN YAMMA would continue its efforts to tackle terrorists and other criminal groups operating in Kebbi State.
He also urged residents to provide security agencies with timely and credible information to help prevent criminal activities and protect communities.
