The Bauchi State Police Command has arrested six suspects in connection with separate cases involving suspected drug trafficking and the alleged murder of a 45-year-old farmer, Garba Abdullahi.
According to the command’s spokesperson, SP Nafiu Habib, two suspected drug traffickers were arrested on September 21 following an intelligence-led operation along Sharfolli village in Atafowa District.
The suspects, identified as 35-year-old Shu’aibu Umar and 20-year-old Isah Ibrahim, were allegedly found transporting 69 blocks of dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp. The substance was reportedly concealed inside bags of groundnut.
In a separate incident, police arrested four men over the alleged killing of Garba Abdullahi, who was reportedly attacked while returning from his farm on September 22.
The victim was allegedly accused of being responsible for the illness of a woman identified as Sawaida Dahiru. Police said the suspects attacked him with knives and machetes, leaving him unconscious.

He was rushed to the General Hospital, Azare, but was later confirmed dead by a medical doctor.
The four suspects were identified as Shitu Dahiru, 25; Magaji Dahiru, 42; Sabi’u Auwalu, 20; and Abbah Abdulzahar, 19.
The Bauchi State Police Command condemned the incident, warning residents against jungle justice and taking the law into their own hands.
Both cases have been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for further investigation and prosecution.
