U.S.-based Nigerian rapper Ms Jorji has opened up about the end of her 10-month marriage, saying her ex husband’s financial difficulties contributed to the collapse of the union.
The rapper made the revelation during a recent livestream with former Big Brother Naija winner Phyna, while discussing marriage, relationships and financial expectations.
According to Ms Jorji, she was not prepared to remain in a marriage that had become financially difficult, insisting that she had been clear about her expectations before tying the knot.
“I am a gold digger. Poverty does not look good on me,” she said.
She explained that while financial difficulties could happen to anyone, she did not consider enduring poverty alongside her husband to be part of her plans for marriage.

Ms Jorji also recalled her court wedding, claiming that she specifically asked the judge to omit the phrase “for poorer” from the marriage vows.
“When we did our court wedding, I made sure the judge skipped the ‘for poorer’ in the marriage vows,” she said.
The rapper further stated that she had communicated her position on financial hardship to her former husband before their marriage.
“Being poor is not part of our route, and I told him that,” she added.
Her comments have since sparked discussion online about financial expectations in marriage, with social media users expressing differing views on whether financial difficulties should influence the decision to remain in a union.
