Operatives of the Imo State Police Command have arrested four suspects during security operations in forested areas of Ohaji/Egbema Local Government Area.
The command’s spokesperson, Henry Okoye, said the operation was carried out on June 10, 2026, by officers of the Ohaji Divisional Headquarters led by DPO CSP Mathias Abah, in collaboration with local vigilantes.
The team combed forests and plantations in Assa, Ohuba, Adapalm Plantation, and adjoining communities to deny criminal groups safe havens and improve security.
Okoye explained that the exercise followed a directive from the Commissioner of Police, Audu Bosso, for sustained forest-clearing operations across the state. The four arrested men are currently undergoing interrogation as investigations continue.

The raid comes two weeks after police arrested 24 suspects in a similar operation in Owerri West LGA. On May 25, more than 250 officers and vigilantes led by Area Commander ACP Michael Abattam combed forests in Eziobodo, Ihiagwa, and Okolochi communities.
Residents of Eziobodo and nearby areas have repeatedly raised alarm over kidnappings and attacks linked to armed groups operating from the forests.
Tensions rose after the killing of Chimuanya Eke, who was shot on his way to buy medication for his child and later died at the Federal Teaching Hospital, Owerri.
The incident sparked protests with calls for stronger security and a crackdown on criminal hideouts.
