The Adamawa State Police Command has arrested five young men suspected of terrorising residents in parts of Yola, the state capital.
The suspects were allegedly linked to a series of robbery incidents around the Kofare Masallaci Biyu area in Yola South Local Government Area.
Police said the arrests followed intelligence gathered in connection with a recent robbery incident in the community. A tactical team attached to the Kofare Divisional Police Headquarters carried out the operation in the early hours of Tuesday, September 1, with support from members of the community.
The suspects were identified as Nura Aliyu, 20; Abubakar Adamu, 21; Abubakar Muhammed, 23; Abdulhameed Yusuf, 18; and Yusuf Husseini, 20.
According to the police, all the suspects are residents of the Kofare area.
The command’s spokesperson, SP Suleiman Nguroje, confirmed the development in a statement, saying the operation was part of efforts to tackle criminal activities and improve security in the area.

Five cutlasses said to have been used in carrying out the alleged crimes were recovered during the operation.
The police said investigations were ongoing and assured residents of continued efforts to identify and arrest other individuals connected with criminal activities in the state.
Residents were also encouraged to continue supporting security agencies by providing useful information that could help prevent crime and protect lives and property.
