A woman has been arrested by the Osun State Police Command following the sudden death of a vigilante member shortly after a sexual encounter with her in Ile-Ife.
The deceased, identified as Sunday, popularly known as Apetu, reportedly died on Sunday in the Odi-Olokun area of Ile-Ife.
According to reports, the incident occurred at about 2:30 p.m., shortly after the man had been with the woman.
A video circulating on social media showed Apetu in severe distress on Ooni Ilare Street, where he was reportedly seen gasping, screaming and pleading with the woman to give him urine.
The woman was subsequently taken into custody at the Moore Police Division as authorities commenced investigations into the circumstances surrounding the man’s death.

The deceased’s remains were later deposited at the morgue of the Obafemi Awolowo University Teaching Hospitals Complex in Ile-Ife.
While some residents reportedly attributed the death to what they described as a traditional “thunderbolt” phenomenon, authorities have not confirmed the claim or established any scientific connection between it and the incident.
A senior officer of the Osun State Police Command confirmed that the police were aware of reports circulating on social media but cautioned members of the public against spreading unverified information.
The police and relevant medical authorities are expected to establish the actual cause of death as investigations continue.
Residents have also been urged to remain calm and avoid drawing conclusions until the outcome of the investigation is made public.
