The Commissioner of Police, Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Command, Ahmed Sanusi, has ordered the orderly room trial of four police officers accused of extorting ₦52,000 from the Chairman of the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), Dr. Musa Adamu Aliyu (SAN).
The officers—ASP Clement Ehigala, ASP Sunday Okpe, Inspector Samuel Onoja, and Sergeant Yakubu Emmanuel—were reportedly involved in an unauthorized traffic operation at Banex Plaza Junction in Wuse II, Abuja.
According to a statement issued by the FCT Police Command spokesperson, SP Josephine Adeh, the incident occurred on July 11, 2026, at about 3:34 p.m. The officers allegedly abandoned their assigned duty posts and mounted an illegal checkpoint, where they stopped a motorist under the pretext of a traffic violation and extorted ₦52,000.
The victim was later identified as Dr. Musa Adamu Aliyu, the ICPC Chairman.
Following a formal complaint, CP Sanusi ordered the immediate arrest of the officers and directed that they face disciplinary proceedings for misconduct, including dereliction of duty, unauthorized enforcement, and extortion.

“The Command has commenced disciplinary proceedings in line with established police regulations and reiterates its zero tolerance for misconduct,” the statement read.
The police commissioner had earlier described the officers’ actions as disgraceful, emphasizing that any personnel found guilty would face severe sanctions, including possible dismissal from the force.
The FCT Police Command reaffirmed its commitment to professionalism, accountability, and maintaining public trust in law enforcement.
