
The Oyo State Police Command has arrested 16 suspected cultists within the premises of The Polytechnic, Ibadan, in a coordinated security operation.
According to a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, Olayinka Ayanlade, the suspects comprise 14 males and two females.
The arrest was carried out at and around the venue where the group was reportedly planning a crucial meeting.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspects are believed to be members of the notorious Aiye confraternity.

Some of those apprehended were already on the police watchlist for their alleged involvement in previous murder cases and other cult-related activities within the state.
The police also confirmed that several items were recovered from the suspects during the operation, although details of the exhibits were not disclosed.
Ayanlade stated that investigations are ongoing to uncover the full extent of the group’s activities and to ensure that all those involved are brought to justice.
The Command reiterated its commitment to maintaining law and order across the state and urged residents to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities to security agencies.
