Fear and tension have continued to spread among motorists and commuters using the Enugu-Abakaliki Expressway following renewed attacks by suspected armed robbers along the busy federal highway in Enugu State.
The latest incident reportedly claimed the life of a commercial driver travelling from Lagos to Abakaliki after gunmen attacked his vehicle near the Amechi Idodo area, a route linked to the hometown of Enugu State Governor, Peter Mbah.
According to sources familiar with the development, the attackers intercepted the Toyota Sienna bus during the journey, robbed passengers of their valuables, and fatally shot the driver before escaping from the scene.
