The Lagos State Police Command has arrested ten suspects following a violent outbreak that disrupted the All Progressives Congress (APC) primary election in the Alimosho Local Government Area.
The political disturbance broke out on Saturday along Onilewura Street, off Liasu Road, in the Egbe area of the state. Eyewitnesses reported that a group of armed hoodlums unexpectedly invaded the election venue and began firing weapons sporadically into the air.
The sudden gunfire triggered widespread panic, forcing voters, electoral officials, and terrified local residents to flee the scene in a desperate search for safety.
Taking advantage of the chaotic scene, the attackers reportedly targeted vulnerable attendees. Several people sustained various degrees of injuries during the stampede, while the thugs aggressively robbed fleeing party members and residents of their mobile phones, cash, and other valuable belongings.

Confirming the incident, the Deputy Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Femi Adeoye, debunked early viral reports suggesting that people were killed in the melee. He categorically stated that no fatalities were recorded during the security breach, assuring the public that the situation was quickly brought under control.
According to the police spokesperson, the ten arrested suspects are currently being held in custody at the Ikotun Divisional Police Station. Security operatives deployed to the scene also successfully recovered a locally fabricated firearm from the hoodlums during the arrest. Investigators are currently interrogating the suspects to uncover the underlying motive behind the sponsored attack.
Reassuring the public, ASP Adeoye emphasized that the Lagos State Police Command is committed to a meticulous investigation to identify any political actors or sponsors behind the violence.
He vowed that anyone found culpable, regardless of their status, would face the full wrath of the law, while urging Alimosho residents to remain calm and provide security agencies with actionable intelligence.
