
One person has been killed in a road crash involving a commercial bus at Iye-Maja Junction along the Oko-Olowo Highway in Ilorin, Kwara State.
The accident occurred on Sunday at about 6:35pm when the bus, which was carrying 21 passengers, reportedly lost control after one of its tyres burst.
The vehicle somersaulted before catching fire, prompting firefighters to rush to the scene and begin rescue operations.
According to the Kwara State Fire Service spokesman, Hassan Adekunle, passengers were evacuated from the bus while those who sustained injuries were taken to the hospital for medical attention.

He confirmed that one person died in the crash.
The Fire Service expressed sympathy to the family of the deceased and wished those injured a speedy recovery.
The Chief Fire Officer, Alabi Muhammed, urged motorists, especially commercial vehicle operators, to ensure their vehicles are properly maintained and roadworthy before embarking on journeys.
He also advised drivers to regularly inspect their tyres, braking systems, electrical components and other critical parts to detect faults early and prevent serious road accidents.
