The President of the Ponmo Sellers’ Association in Ondo State reportedly collapsed in court during her arraignment in Akure over the alleged discovery of human faeces at her ponmo processing centre.
The businesswoman was arrested after human waste was reportedly discovered at her processing facility on Igboliki Street in Akure, prompting authorities to shut down the premises.
The incident followed an environmental sanitation inspection conducted in October by the Chairman of Akure South Local Government Area, Gbenga Fasua, and his monitoring team.
During the exercise, the team reportedly discovered two buckets containing human faeces within the premises of the ponmo business.
The inspection covered Oke Aro, Iro and Igboliki streets as part of efforts to ensure residents and business operators complied with environmental sanitation regulations.

Reports indicated that the ponmo business had operated in the area for more than 21 years.
The operator, who was present during the inspection, reportedly identified herself as the President of the Ponmo Sellers’ Association in Ondo State.
Following the discovery, Fasua ordered the immediate closure of the processing centre and directed that all ponmo products found at the facility be destroyed.
He also ordered the prosecution of the businesswoman in line with relevant environmental laws.
She was subsequently arrested and brought before a court in Akure on Tuesday for arraignment.
However, she reportedly collapsed during the court proceedings.
