Troops of the Nigerian Army have reportedly killed several Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) fighters, including three foreign nationals, during a mortar attack on a suspected terrorist hideout in Dumba, Borno State.
The operation was conducted on November 1, 2026, by troops under Sector 3 of Operation HADIN KAI, involving personnel from the Lake Chad Basin operations and the 403 Amphibious Brigade.
According to security sources cited by counterterrorism expert Zagazola Makama, the troops initially discovered that the insurgents had moved beyond the effective range of their 60mm mortar weapons.
