The campaign convoy of Peter Obi, presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), has reportedly come under attack in Calabar, Cross River State.
Ester Umoh, a media aide to Obi, raised the alarm over the incident in a social media post on Wednesday.
According to her, some suspected thugs were attempting to attack the convoy.
“Thugs are trying to attack our convoy,” she said.
The incident reportedly happened shortly after Obi arrived in Calabar alongside his wife, Margaret, and his running mate, Rabiu Kwankwaso, for a town hall meeting.

The alleged attack comes about two months after a similar incident involving Obi’s convoy in Benue State.
During that incident, some suspected thugs reportedly blocked Boko Road near the Air Force Base in an attempt to prevent the former Anambra State governor from entering the state.
Further details about the reported attack in Calabar are still awaited.
