
Operatives of the Ondo State Police Command have arrested a suspected armed robber in the Abusoro axis of Akure South Local Government Area.
The suspect, identified as Idowu Babayemi, was apprehended during a routine patrol by officers within the Onimalu axis.
According to the command’s spokesperson, Abayomi Jimoh, officers conducted a search on the suspect after sighting him, leading to the recovery of a locally made pistol.

Jimoh said the arrest followed weeks of surveillance based on credible intelligence received by the command. He added that the suspect will be charged to court once investigations are concluded.
“The successful operation further demonstrates the command’s proactive and intelligence-driven policing strategy targeted at curbing armed robbery, illegal arms proliferation and other criminal activities across the state,” he said.
The Commissioner of Police commended the officers for their vigilance, professionalism, and dedication to duty during the operation.
