
A Magistrate Court sitting in Ijebu Imushin has ordered the detention of a 45-year-old woman, Taiwo Adeoye, over allegations that she poured hot water on her teenage niece.
The defendant was remanded at the Ijebu Ode Correctional Centre after being arraigned by the police on charges related to causing serious bodily harm to the 13-year-old girl, Modinat Adeoye.
The court granted her bail in the sum of N3 million but directed that she remain in custody until the bail conditions are fulfilled.
According to a statement released by the spokesperson of the Ogun State Police Command, DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, the incident occurred on April 13, 2026, at about 3:30 pm in the Imusin area.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspect allegedly attacked the teenager, who resides with her, by pouring hot water on her, resulting in severe burns on parts of her body.
The alleged act was said to have been carried out after accusing the girl of inappropriate behaviour.
Following a report of the incident, police detectives swiftly responded, rescued the victim, and ensured she was taken to a medical facility, where she is currently receiving treatment.
