The Ogun State Police Command has arrested three armed suspects during coordinated security operations across the Mowe and Sagamu areas, uncovering illegal firearms, ammunition, and suspected ritual items linked to criminal and cult-related activities.
The arrests, carried out between April 14 and April 18, 2026, were the result of intelligence-driven operations and routine stop-and-search patrols by divisional police units and the Quick Response Squad (QRS).
In the first operation, officers attached to the Mowe Division acted on credible intelligence from a concerned citizen about a suspicious individual loitering near a bus stop.
The suspect, identified as 36-year-old Opeyemi Anuoluwapo, was apprehended on April 14 at about 4:30 p.m. A search conducted on him led to the recovery of a locally fabricated single-barrel pistol, an expended cartridge, and charms believed to be associated with cult activities.
During interrogation, he reportedly confessed to being a member of the Eiye Confraternity.

In a separate incident on April 17, operatives of the Quick Response Squad intercepted a Bajaj motorcycle along the Lafarge axis of the Sagamu–Ogijo Road.
The rider, 30-year-old Asaye Ajibola, was found in possession of a locally made single-barrel firearm loaded with nine live cartridges. He was immediately taken into custody after failing to provide a credible explanation for possessing the weapon.
The following day, April 18, another suspect, Adedeji Olufemi, aged 49, was arrested along the same route after QRS officers intercepted his Honda motorcycle. A search revealed a locally made double-barrel gun loaded with eight cartridges. Like the previous suspect, he could not justify his possession of the firearm.
All three suspects have been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Eleweran, Abeokuta, where further investigations are ongoing ahead of possible prosecution.
The Commissioner of Police in Ogun State, Bode Ojajuni, commended the officers for their professionalism and vigilance. He reaffirmed the command’s commitment to intensifying intelligence-led policing to combat illegal arms possession, cultism, and other violent crimes across the state.
